Transport Select Committee Investigates PPP

In what I think is a first for the London Assembly, I will be giving evidence before the Transport Select Committee tomorrow.

The committee are investigating the circumstances around the collapse of Metronet and they will also be taking evidence from the PPP arbiter, the tube unions and the other PPP company, Tubelines.

The whole episode will be available to enjoy on the Parliamentary Channel.

Any comments on your appearance Roger?

Yes - it was pretty defensive.

I haven't seen the TV playback, but at the time, I got the impression that they were trying to lay the blame for the collapse of Metronet on the Assembly - a bit rich as Parliament denied us the powers to keep track of it.

They had a detailed briefing from our officers but they didn't refer to it much...

The immediate reaction is not to do it again, but I am enthusiastic to repeat the appearance because we need to work together to get the best results. I will certainly be presenting more evidence in future.
