New Links Added

I have added new links to Barkingside 21, The Greater London Authority, Havering and Redbridge Councils and of course, Boris Johnson's campaign site.

Wherever you are going, it is now a bit easier to get there...

It's interesting that nowhere on the blogs or the MSM has anyone commented on the fact that the PM denying any chance of a GE before 09 is a great help to Boris.

He can now fight the London Mayoral, WIN and stay MP for Henley for a year or so until Brown actually plucks up the courage to go to the country.

SJM - that would be much like Mr Livingstone who was elected Mayor in May 2000 and stood down as MP for Brent East in 2001.

I don't think the Mayor is thrilled by Gordo's dithering.

And before that 09 election, Mr Livingstone would be free to challenge Mr Brown for Leadership of the ZaNuLabour, assuming he could organise a by-election somewhere nice and safe.

Of course GB may change his mind yet again and they could be on the same day!

What will Boris do then? Hedge his bets and stand in both? Not a confident message. He would have to just stand as Mayor and risk being in the political wilderness for 4 years.

I will predict that the only way we get an election before 09 is if things become so appalling that the Tories call a vote of no confidence and succeed.

I don't think this is likely because the Lab MPs will want to hold on to their salaries and benefits for as long as poss before it all goes belly up, so they will keep Gordon suffering for as long as possible.

With the damning indictment of the Maidstone Hospital Trust announced today, you will note that the rerun of the Ten Plagues of Egypt is marching on relentlessly.

Good analogy, Judith. I recall there was a plague of frogs - perhaps the 21st century version is a plague of newts (see above story).

Plague of darkness - power cuts due to inadequate infrastructure.

Plague on the first born - inheritance tax...

I will watch for other examples. (The Mayor's September decision list will be blogged shortly)
